New Instructional Baseball Camp Comes to Dallas

September 30, 2014, Dallas, TX -- Texas has always been known for its rich football tradition. However, baseball may be in the process of taking over. Dallas, for example has an extremely rich baseball tradition. Some of this tradition has even been developed recently. Arlington is a short drive from Dallas, taking maybe half an hour, but holds one of Major League Baseball’s more recent successful teams. The Texas Rangers were American League Champions back to back years in 2010 and 2011 before falling in the World Series. It is never easy to win at that level consecutive years, but the Rangers were able to do so.

The Rangers are only the first sign of baseball prominence in the Dallas area. Dallas is the host to many youth leagues and tournaments that bring some of the best talent in the country to the area. Furthermore, Dallas area high schools were a facet in the state baseball tournament this past year. It is plain to see that Dallas is as rich in talented players of America’s Pastime as they are in talented young football players.

Woodrow Wilson High School has had some recent success with their baseball program. Coming off of a season with a winning record, and a stellar record within their district, coach Brett Ray looks to improve not only his players, but other young players in the area.

Ray is the director of an instructional baseball camp being held at Woodrow Wilson in January of 2015. This camp is part of a nationwide program with the US Baseball Academy. The camp allows players grades K-12 to participate in skills such as: Hitting, Pitching, Fielding, and Baserunning. As mentioned, the US Baseball Academy runs instructional camps nationwide, and will have 234 camps operating in 2015. Woodrow Wilson is not the only new location. See these other new locations to see if a new camp is coming to your location:

California: Antioch, Bakersfield, Chula Vista, Rio Linda, Woodland Hills

North Carolina: Canton

Ohio: Washington Court House, Akron

See what other people are saying about the U.S. Baseball Academy!

Amy H.-North Park University, IL
I just wanted to connect with you quickly and let you know what a great job North Park University has done in implementing the Academy’s baseball skill training sessions.

My son Brendan just finished with the 6 week session and I was so happy for Brendan to see the level of professionalism, positive attitudes and reinforcement the coaches gave to the kids, not to mention the skill training Brendan took away from the sessions.  I think I mentioned to one coach that the last place I would be at 9:00 am on Sunday morning when I was in my 20’s was at the gym coaching and training about 40-50 7-9 year olds!

I was truly so impressed with how they ran the hitting stations and couldn’t believe how well Brendan picked up the pitching techniques and mechanics they showed him.

Thanks to North Park University and all of their coaches and the U.S. Baseball Academy for the perfect selection of an organization who very well represented your program.  I will definitely see you again next year if you offer this again!

Kelly W.-Athens HS, OH
We are super excited about U.S. Baseball Academy coming to our small town! We’ve heard nothing but good things about this program from friends whose kids have participated and have improved their pitching, batting, catching and fielding skills!

Felicity T.-Littleton HS, CO
My son attended last year's camp and his coaches and other parents were impressed with how much he had improved.  His skill in pitching and his arm strength developed over the course of the camp, and he went into the spring season with a lot of confidence.  We were very happy with the camp and are excited to participate this year.

David N.-Lodi HS, CA
We would like to thank U.S. Baseball Academy. We have attended various other types of training camps and by far U.S. Baseball Academy has the most talented and organized instructors. Your camps have exceeded our expectations and we have learned so much, we would love the opportunity to learn even more from your camp.

U.S. Baseball Academy Indoor Hitting Drill

Indoor Hitting Drill

One of the most important things for young baseball players is continuing to improve during the off-season. There is a very simple drill that can be done at home to help make sure that players are staying balanced during their swing. Check out to this link for a short video explanation of this drill.

Another way that this can be done is just using a mirror without a bat. The player can fold their arms across their chest, grabbing their left shoulder with their right hand, and their right shoulder with their left hand. Then, the player strides as they would during a swing, and checks to make sure that their hips are rotating properly, and that they are staying balanced throughout the swing.

Also, for more drills and training, check out our winter camps at the location nearest you by going to our website: http://www.usbaseballacademy.com
